Stoker

Blues Man, New Orleans .
At the French Quarter Music Festival.
Every thing his owns in on the bike.
He plays and sings like every blues man you've ever heard.
All Of Them, the ones who have passed over, all trying to have one last say.
He is Something Else.

It sounds much better than it looks. I first saw it last year with a broken head and I thought, "that guitar is broken". I was right. As I listened and looked closer, it stayed broken.
So this year I find him still playing that instrument, but in a greater state of abuse. Turns out, it has been through a fire this past year. The plastic bag it was in, to keep the rain off, melted during the fire and Stoker decided to let it stay. Another layer of lacquer. The head has been glued and taped back together and plays well.

I don't know how it got the ash to stay put, but it did.
I think that is electrician's tape.

I wonder if the dust is a big contributor to the sound.

  1. Seems he doesn't just play the blues, he lives 'em.

  2. I'm loving that guitar. No doubt some down and dirty blues contained therein.

I don't know the man, but there's no doubt in my mind that he's just like his guitar...beat to shit and back, baby. And the cigarette butt says it all.

An aside: the electrician's tape will eventually give way to the tension...the man needs some gaffer's tape.

  3. intelli...I think you are very right about that observation.
jadedj...another good observation. Ringo Starr is a pip squeak in the blues up against this cat.
