Jackie Gleason Quotes 7/20/11

Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity; at least while dreaming, we partake of the power of the Spirit, the infinite Godhead that creates the cosmos.”

  1. That was when they knew how to do comedy without the "Lenny Bruce" aspect. Pretty funny Jackie getting himself all regnant.

  3. Those guys were having more fun in this short clip than I've had in my whole life so far. Perhaps I should follow their broader examples and drink more.

  5. Walkin’ man…it is a nice reminder of the way humor used to be. Back when scat was a type of jazz singing.
JadedJ…Stephen Foster was a damn Yankee that only spend a few days in Nawlens in 1852 that somehow seems to have defined the lives of ‘darkies’ in the south. FOSTER BROOKS was a comic who everyone called the loveable lush. I don’t know if it was the Ezra Brooks or the Foster’s that send you swimming down the Suwannee with out a paddle. Please feel free to comment any time.
Nance…they did seem to be having a great time. The love and respect was very thick.
A nip now and again can’t be all bad.
Harlequin…Gleason was one of the few comics that my dad and I had in common.

  6. And awaaaaayyyy we go! I was never much on the June Taylor Dancers, but the rest of Mr. Gleason's show always held my attention and kept me entertained as a lad. And my dad, too
