Thomas Jefferson 4/3/2012 'Nuff said.

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

  1. Want to crush them? Quit (as much as possible) giving them your money, feed your bank account instead. Do you remember Jimmy Carters speech to the nation during the oil blow up. Consume less, turn light's off, put on a sweater and turn your furnace down, drive slower all that? Same principle. Except this time it's money and you fight money with money, let them use theirs to buy and sell politicians you vote for, don't buy shit you don't need. And never if you can get it used buy new.

    1. Thoughful comment Walkin’ Man, we should all take you advice.
I try to do it in my own way. But I have to buy their gasoline. Shite.
I will take your advice to heart.
      Thanks again.

  2. Even though old Thomas was one of the ten wealthiest presidents ever, he had the right idea. Too bad he and his compatriots created such a fucked up system making it easy pickings for the monied corporation "citizens."
A joke (not so much): In Oklahoma, what's the difference between a fetus, a corporation, and a woman? Two of them have rights.

    1. Bro, I would like to see the source of this factoid.
One of the ten (10) wealthiest ever?
I’ll bet they are using some sort of His Dollar is bigger than my Dollar ($US) or did he have European currency?
Just sorta wondering where these factoids come from.
BTW, did that invalidate the quote?

    2. Came from an article in some money grubber publication that pondered the question would Romney be the richest president ever. The figured the value of their estates at their time. Wanna know who the richest president of all time was? Washington. Oh, just remembered, I did a post on this a while back... http://termitesofsin.blogspot.com/2012/02/would-romney-be-richest-president-ever.html

    1. Please see above comment to Mr. C.
      What about the quote?
BTW I would suggest remedial reading classes.

    2. Doesn't invalidate the quote or the warning. In good old Thomas' case, it was wealthy plantation owners vs. wealthy industrialists. What's the difference which one controls the government? They both considered slaves 3/5 of a person.

    3. So? are you an industrialist or a plantation owner or 3/5 of a person?

  5. It is an excellent quote, which I have read before, and certainly applicable to today. The real point is, corporations have been a threat to American since it's beginnings. I don't think they will ever go away.

    1. Spot on. BUT America as we know it just might go away.

  7. In 1811, two years after Jefferson left the Presidency, Jefferson wrote a letter to General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a hero of the American Revolution. Jefferson said that he supported taxes (then tariffs, since there was no income tax yet) falling entirely on the wealthy. As Jefferson explained: "The farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of this country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings...Lifted from Daily Kos.
